The Gattinara Riserva San Francescois produced on the Antoniolofamily farm founded in 1948 by MarioAntoniolo in upper Piedmont, north of the province of Vercelli. Since the foundation, the guidelines of Marioand his daughter Rosannahave been lovefor wine and respectfor the land, which come together in the production of wines of great quality and depth. Even today, in the third generation, the territory of origin and the Nebbioloare the symbol of this family business and of respect for the Piedmontese cultural and winemaking tradition. Viticulture is simple and non-invasive to allow nature to carry out its work of evolving the grapes. SanFrancescois one of Antoniolo’s 3 famous crus, covering approximately 3.5hectares with western exposure and from which the winery’s most austere wines come.
The GattinaraSan FrancescoRiservais a still red that stands out for its harmonyof flavors and a hint of bitternessthat makes it a wine capable of competing with the great reds at a national level. Produced with pure Nebbiolograpes harvested by hand, it is called DOCGand its production is restricted to the municipality of Gattinara. In the cellar, traditional methods are preferred, from vinification in concrete vats with indigenous yeasts to maceration on the skins for 20 days and a long aging period in which the wine has time and space to evolve and acquire its own organoleptic characteristics. The aging is initially divided into tonneaux and large oak barrels for 24-30 months and completed in the bottle for 12.
