Nectar Dei, Nittardi’s most prestigious wine, is the result of an extraordinary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Merlot and was so named after the ancient name with which Nittardi is mentioned in a document from 1183. According to tradition, the first bottles of this wine were presented to Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis just as Michelangelo Buonarroti did in the 16th century when, as owner of the estate, he paid homage to Pope Paul III by presenting them with the genuine wine of Nittardi, Nectar of the Gods.
